Introduction -
I am Austin. I am the owner and sole operator of AA Shaving. I am active duty in the US NAVY. I am a father, husband, and a friend to many.
History -
In 2014 I began my journey in wetshaving. Started off with a cheap double edge razor, and non-artisan shaving soap. For four years that is the soap I continued to purchase. I was watching popular vintage razor videos while deployed in 2018 and discovered artisan shaving soaps.
After trying multiple different brands I had a great basis on what I was looking for in a shaving soap. I was having trouble finding all of the qualities I was looking for in a soap. Lots of soaps boasted great qualities but it was hard to find one soap that contained everything in one base.
In 2019 I was thinking. And made the decision to have a hand at making artisan shaving soap. I immediately got to work studying properties of oils; why and what properties each oil brought to the table in a lather. There was so much to learn. In 2020 I made my first prototype soaps. They were a mess, all over the spectrum with performance. Three bases later I decided to send out some samples to shaving friends. Two bases after those AA Shaving as we know it today was born.
